INVITATION TO PARTICIPANTS IN OTHER FESTIVALS

The National Eisteddfod Academy Young Performer Awards Competition is a platform for awarding talented young performers. Recipients of diploma or similar awards (90% and higher) in other festivals / eisteddfods during 2016 are invited to enter for the NEA Awards competition.

Gold, silver and bronze medals, as well as cash prizes of R50,000 will be awarded to the winners of the various categories on 20 May 2017.

Rules and guidelines

  1. Only diploma level candidates in the NEA Eisteddfod of 2016(or similar achievements in other festivals) may enter.

  2. Live  performances will be scheduled and adjudicated in Gauteng

  3. A panel of  adjudicators will adjudicate all events and their decision will be final.  

  4.  No changes in the schedule will be allowed. (See the website for more detail.)

  5. Participants that select to submit a recorded entry on DVD must adhere to the specific requirements for recorded entries as provided on the website (no recordings of performances at other events will be accepted).

  6. All participants should submit an entry form and proof of payment before the closing date for entries.  

  7. A copy of the certificate / report confirming the achievement in another festival must be submitted with the entry form.     

  • Two options are available for adjudication in the FIRST ROUND ONLY.  Participants should select ONE of these options on the entry form.

    •  FIRST ROUND ONLY: Participants may enter and participate as follows:

      •  LIVE PERFORMANCE: The participant(s) will be required to perform live at the Roodepoort Theater according to the schedule that will be provided for the First Round

      •  RECORDED ENTRY ON DVD: A participant will be required to submit a DVD recording of his performance for adjudication in the first round.

  •  Any participant that proceeds to a next round will have to perform “live” at the selected venue in Gauteng.

ENTRY  FEES FOR PARTICIPANTS IN OTHER FESTIVALS:

· Individual participants:                                  R450 per entry

·Small groups (2 – 10 participants):                 R510 per entry

·Larger groups (11 and more participants):   R670 per entry

  • Closing date for entries from other festivals (live performances):  6 Feb. 2017*
  • Closing date for submission of late entries (live performances):    13 February 2017**
  • Last date for submission of all recorded entries :                              28 Feb. 2017*

*     Proof of payment to be submitted with the entry before/on the closing date.

**   Late entry fee applies.
